About the Museum
Built in 1997 and officially opened in 2002, Kota Tinggi Museum stands on the historic grounds of the former Johor Sultanate. The museum showcases the remarkable history, culture, and legacy of one of Malaysia's most influential kingdoms.

Historical Significance
Kota Tinggi was once the royal seat of the Johor Sultanate after the fall of the Malacca Sultanate in 1511. The Johor River valley is also closely associated with Tun Sri Lanang, the renowned author of the historic Sejarah Melayu (Malay Annals), one of the most important works in Malay literature.
