Getting to the largest district of Johor at the south-eastern end of the peninsula, requires an hour's drive from Johor Bahru. Desaru is easily accessible from Singapore and the northern areas by road via Kota Tinggi.
By Road :
From the North-South Highway (PLUS), the easiest way is to take the Kulai exit, then followed by a 90-minutes drive to the historic town. Drive towards Kota Tinggi and then to Desaru. You can see there’s are many palm oil plantations and small Felda village side by side within this area. If you come from Singapore, take the Causeway Link Highway, then follow the sign to Kota Tinggi and Desaru. Alternatively, you can use the newly completed Senai-Desaru Expressway and its bridge across the Johor River has shaved an hour off travel time to Desaru, which is now just 30 minutes away from Johor Bahru.

- From Johor Bahru via Kota Tinggi : 100 km, 1hour 30min
- From Senai Desaru Expressway : 1 hour
- From Kuala Lumpur : 436 km, 4hrs 30min
- From Singapore : 125 km, 2hrs 15min

Public Transport :
The coastal road is a lot more scenic. There are reliable public transportation services from all major towns. Public transport is available from Johor Bahru, Kota Tinggi and Tanjung Belungkor to Desaru, but do check schedules as buses tend to be few and far between. There are direct Mara Liner bus services from Johor Bahru's Larkin Terminal to Bandar Penawar via Kota Tinggi. Alternatively, you can take a bus service (41 or 227) from Larkin (227) or opposite City Square (41/227) to Kota Tinggi then from Kota Tinggi to Bandar Penawar (max. 1hour). From Bandar Penawar, you can either take a cab(teksi), or wait the minibus that will take you directly to Desaru.
By Sea :
There is a direct ferry service between the Changi Ferry Terminal in Singapore and Tanjung Belungkor in Johor(Malaysia). It will take only about 15 minutes to reach to Hotel from Tanjung Belungkor Terminal. Shuttle service from T.G. Belungkor can be arranged by Hotel.
